Thanks for posting that. Mamdani takes the laurels, I think. Predergast has an article up at the Wall St. Journal which seems to indicate he didn’t take too much of what the professor had to say to heart.
I agree. Pity at least some of that perspective doesn’t get included in the mainstream reports on the issue. Al-Jazeera English has been doing a great job the last few days. They’ve had Alex de Waal, Mamadani, Enough Project and JEM reps on. American newspapers seem to continue to only quote Prendergast though. Admittedly, he’s a great communicator, and has some good points, but the format of this academic debate required more than soundbites.
